Workplace Practices Audits and Evaluations

One size doe not fit all in the complex and increasingly diverse modern workplace.  Policies, procedures, and practices that were successful at one time may not foster productive working conditions for today's mobile and heterogeneous workforces.  Employment practices well suited to one locale often fail to translate effectively into all corners of the global workplace.  Or, since an organization's highly particularized culture and leadership clearly drives the success or failure of each important management practice or program, a success for one employer may spell disaster for another.

Nonetheless, "I Say Tomato...and So Will You" is a tune still heard in even the most modern workplaces.  Without recognizing the consequences, many organizations accept straight-from-the-box policies and procedures, copy the solutions of other quite different organizations, or fail to alter existing workplace practices even though conditions have changed dramatically.  Managers directing newly merged or newly acquired organizations too often attempt to apply the same policies that worked in a prior context to a vastly different one, and managers new to the global scene often wrongly think that what works at home works equally well in an overseas workplace.  Even internationally sophisticated employers, seeking to impose brands or operations on a worldwide basis, still sometimes adopt unworkable one-size-fits-all policies and procedures.

When important workplace practices are involved, the consequences of a misfit can be dramatic, however.  Employment practices errors create legal liability, negative publicity, and reputational damage.  Even worse, they can seriously affect employees' morale, creativity, and productivity, and thus, the organization's competitiveness.  Accordingly, in today's workplace, as in many aspects of business, careful attention to, and effective customization of, employment practices is critical to successful management of employees.

By carefully auditing and evaluating your workplace policies, procedures, and programs with a cross-disciplinary and global understanding and capability, MPG Global can identify the practices that will prove successful in your current workplace and can help redesign those that will not.

Large or far-flung businesses also need to be concerned about whether the policies, procedures, and programs the business has established are actually being applied in practice. The best "talk" won't help at all if the organization's managers and supervisors aren't "walking the walk". In fact, a gap between pronouncement and practice can be dangerous. As experienced internal investigators, both nationally and in Europe, MPG can help you find out whether the policies, procedures and programs you have are anything more than words on paper. If not, we can make recommendations for improvements or help you implement policies and procedures that do work, and programs to make sure that they continue to work as planned.

Among the workplace audits and evaluations that MPG can provide are:

- Employee handbooks, policies, and programs;
- Information practices (those relating to collection, retention, and disclosure of information about employees);
-
Discrimination, harassment, and retaliation prevention and correction, complaint procedures and anti-retaliation practice;
- Organizational culture and sub-culture;
- Global readiness;
- Corporate governance and social responsibility.

Post-Litigation Management

When employment litigation results in programmatic relief through the mandates of a jury verdict, consent decree, or settlement agreement, MPG's Post-Litigation Management Team can help.  Working with all parties, MPG can:

- Draft, design, and implement changes to policies and procedures;
- Design and deliver an effective educational program; and
- Provide ongoing monitoring and oversight of compliance efforts.
